Peter Alfond Prevention & Healthy Living Center Classes
Are you looking to learn some new tools to stay healthy?
You can access a variety of low-cost and free classes to support your health with an integrated mind, body, heart approach.
MaineGeneral's Peter Alfond Prevention & Healthy Living Center classes focus on supporting lifestyle changes that reduce and eliminate chronic health conditions and support healthy living and healing.
You can learn tools to create positive, lasting change. Our educational programs and resources focus on healthy eating and cooking, physical movement, stress management and mind-body therapies.
We have received generous funding from the Peter Alfond Foundation to offer these classes at low or no cost, as well as provide scholarships.

Hold Harmless Agreement
If you're interested in registering for a class offered by MaineGeneral's Peter Alfond Prevention & Healthy Living Center, you must first read our Hold Harmless Agreement and then agree to it by typing your name in the online registration form for the class. See below for the Hold Harmless Agreement language.
Policies
Scholarship Assistance
If you need help paying for a class, choose the appropriate response to the question, "Are you eligible for any discounts or need help paying?" on the online registration form and the discount will be applied. If you have questions, please call (207) 872-4102 for help.
Discount Program
We offer a 20 percent discount per class to:
- Seniors (65 and older)
- U.S. military veterans
- Current MaineGeneral employees
- Second family member of a household member who registers for the same class
To receive the discounts, choose the appropriate response to "Are you eligible for any discounts?" on the online registration form, and the discount will automatically apply.
Delays and Cancellations
We reserve the right to cancel a class due to low enrollment or unexpected events. If that occurs, we will notify you by email and your class fees will be refunded.
Weather Cancellations
If we need to cancel a class because of weather, we will put a message on our voicemail at (207) 861-5257 at least two hours before the class start time.
We also list weather cancellations on our Facebook page and on TV and radio station cancellations.
Refunds
Class fees will be returned if a class is cancelled. No refunds are given within 24 hours of a class start time or after a class has started.
Refunds will be issued to the form of payment within 14 business days after we receive your request for a refund.
If you paid by debit or credit card, it may take up to seven business days for the credit card company to post the payment to your account.

Hold Harmless Agreement
Before you sign up for a class offered by MaineGeneral's Peter Alfond Prevention & Healthy Living Center, you must read the following Hold Harmless Agreement and agree to it by typing your name in the online registration form for the class.
Hold Harmless Agreement
I agree to hold harmless and release MaineGeneral Health and its subsidiaries, entities and employees from and against any and all claims, actions, settlements or judgments, based upon and arising out of my voluntary participation in any of the programs/activities sponsored by MaineGeneral's Peter Alfond Prevention & Healthy Living Center.
To the best of my knowledge, I am in good physical and mental health and do not suffer from any disability or condition that would prevent or limit my participation in any of the above activities.
I understand that it is my responsibility to contact my primary care provider before participating in any of the above activities if I am unsure of my ability to participate in any of the activities offered by MaineGeneral Prevention & Healthy Living.
I understand the risks of participating in MaineGeneral's Peter Alfond Prevention & Healthy Living Center programs and all of my questions have been answered to my satisfaction. My participation in these activities is not in any way representative of MaineGeneral Health and I assume full responsibility for any adverse event related to my participation.
