Dr. Polkinghorn is a board-certified medical oncologist at MaineGeneral's Harold Alfond Center for Cancer Care in Augusta, where he also serves as oncology medical director. He worked at Maine Center for Cancer Medicine in Brunswick for more than 13 years, and served as medical director of medical oncology at Mid Coast Hospital as well. Since 1998, he also has been a clinical professor of medicine at University of Vermont College of Medicine in Burlington, VT. I was told that someone would call me within a day or two to set up the next appointment, which would be two weeks from the last appointment. I have not heard from anybody yet. Otherwise, I have no negative comments.

Everyone was very pleasant and helpful. Everyone made me feel that I could ask any questions at any time. I liked that I got a business card from each person I met. Everyone from the office staff to the doctors were very easy to talk to. I never once felt uncomfortable. Great first impression!

I wish that I had come here a few years ago when I was having issues with my blood. I wouldn't have been played with for a dummy for a year at this other hospital. This is the Best place to come to get the help you need right away.Dr. Polkinghorn is the best oncologist. Thank you very much for diagnosed right away.

I find Dr. Polkinghorn's team to be extremely helpful, knowledgeable, wise, and compassionate. But over the top, I'd give them six to ten stars, like ten stars really. I love Dr. Polkinghorn as my doctor. I wouldn't want any other doctor. He's an extremely, extremely wise man. Dr Polkinghorn was personable and empathetic, easy to approach. He helped direct my care, and welcomed my input. I felt comfortable discussing my care, and concerns. He was up front with my results and I could bounce things off of him . He agreed he would continue to be my Dr. even if I ever decide to stop traditional treatment. I was very pleased the care I have received from him and all his staff.

The lady at the lab did a fantastic job drawing my blood. Usually I'm a really hard stick and she did it effortlessly, period. The nurse associate offered to take my blood pressure on my forearm when I told her that I didn't like automatic blood pressure cuffs. That's the first time anybody's ever done that and it's much better. And Dr. P is always just amazing.

Suffice to say that every turn of my journey - should it prove successful or not - could not have been navigated and embraced without the pure attention and dedication of my medical care team. My experience with the entire care team at the HACCC has been nothing short of very positive. Dr. Polkinghorn is very compassionate and takes the time to listen to what I have to say regarding my condition. Some doctors seem to make the time allotted for your appointment more of an issue than making eye contact and listening to the patients concerns & feeling. Dr. Polkinghorn gets an A+ rating.
