Nelson "Neil" Haas, MD, MPH, FACOEM, has practiced occupational medicine for more than 20 years, was the medical director for MaineGeneral Workplace Health (WPH) from 2015 to 2021, and has served on multiple governmental and professional society committees covering issues pertinent to occupational medicine. He is board-certified and residency-trained in occupational medicine; residency-trained in internal medicine; and certified as a CAOHC occupational hearing conservationist and a NIOSH spirometry course director, a medical review officer, and a commercial driver (FMCSA) medical examiner. During his time at WPH, he assumed training responsibilities and developed training programs for WPH staff that included coverage of workers’ compensation regulations, basic principles of occupational medicine, evaluation and treatment of various musculoskeletal conditions, occupational audiometry and spirometry, and more.

Biography
Dr. Haas has interests in teaching occupational medicine in non-academic settings, and in developing clinical decision support for occupational health clinical staff.
He has been a member of the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (ACOEM) Evidence-Based Practice committee for 15 years; during this tenure he has contributed to the methodology, foot and ankle disorders, and shoulder disorders chapters of the ACOEM Occupational Medicine Practice Guidelines. He has served on multiple panels and committees advising state and federal governments.
