Individual Counseling
Individual counseling is available to MaineGeneral Addiction Medicine patients. Counseling may be recommended to you by a care team member or you may make the decision that counseling is something you want to try.
While many of our patients find counseling an extremely helpful part of their recovery, it is not required.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is counseling?
Counseling is a resource for people who are struggling in some aspect of their lives or want to engage in personal growth. It involves meeting and talking with a trained professional, either in person or virtually, usually for about one hour.
What should I expect during my first meeting?
During the first meeting, we will talk about how you hope counseling might be helpful and, if applicable, how you have found counseling helpful in the past. The purpose of this first meeting is to get to know each other and establish a therapeutic relationship.
Who is the counselor?
Our counselor is Melissa Clement. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and has worked in our practice since August 2023.
