If you or someone you know needs to use a wheelchair, MaineGeneral's Outpatient Rehabilitation team can help! Our experienced therapy staff offers wheelchair clinics at our Augusta and Oakland locations.

What We Offer

If your primary care clinician determines that you need to use wheelchair, they will order a Wheelchair Clinic assessment at the location that's most convenient for you.

One of our physical or occupational therapists will do your assessment, working collaboratively with a local wheelchair vendor that you choose.

The therapist will evaluate your physical abilities and consider any relevant medical conditions you may have to determine your specific needs. The therapist and vendor then will work with you to design a custom wheelchair for you.

As part of the process, the vendor will work with your insurance company to determine your coverage and then order the wheelchair once all steps have been completed.
